Strangeling

Photo from Doll Chateau
One strange little bird with looooong arms coming this way! <3 I've been eying Doll Chateau's odd, yet beautiful dolls for a while now, and after all I couldn't resist purchasing this little one. Bird, yes, ahem...yes, she's a bird - AGAIN. I seem to have some kind of obsession with bird dolls as I currently have six dolls whose characters all different kind of birds. Ravens, magpies and pigeons to be exact. Well, luckily Idris (my Adamelli) is a dream pony, and Gretel and Griselda are mice girls, so I'm not complitely stuck on this bird thing...

I bought some Cernit today, since I always say I suck at sculpting - but the truth is I haven't even really tried. I'm trying to make a pair of geta sandals for Gretel, as I decided to sew her an outfit for the annual hannami party in Roihuvuori's Japanese park. Yukata, some kanzashi and stuff. Here's hoping I get something nice done!

p.s. I decided to name my Hilary Pio, and I really don't know why. I just think she looks a lot like Pio. I'm sure there will be a story behind it, but just not yet!

A teeny visitor

Uguu!

Uguu 2

A friend's tiny little "Uguu" (Leekeworld Allie) is visiting to get some clothes! I've finished her a hat, of course and a dress. She is so cute! I eyed her too when she was released ;) I just cannot pose her at all xD

I have been thinking the future direction of my hobby, and I've set some goals for myself for the rest of the year. These include:

  • Finish a set of hats for this year's Ldoll festival.
  • Open up an Etsy store which I've had for a long while, just haven't listed anything yet. It seems to be a slow process ^^;
  • Get dolls finished. Poor Krüm has no eyes, and all the big boys could use new clothing. Some dolls lack rather critical clothing items, such as panties, derp.
  • Get photostories done! I've been thinking of setting up a Finnish blog for these, which I could also fill with blabber and art when I get some done...
  • Do things and enjoy them!

Roses, sequins, beads

WIP2

Mint for her too

Here are some shots of new hat designs I've been preparing. Okay, that PF-sized kitty rose hat is mine, but the rest are going to this year's Ldoll festival for sale. I'm really into making those ribbon roses now although mine aren't very tidy. I know the proper way of making 'em, but I'm lazy, so I just usually take some ribbon and whip it around. I think they look better with some, uh, chaos added xD (and usually when I'm around, there's plenty of chaos!)

Tallinn was great again! We visited all those three big craft stores, Karnalüks, Abakhan fabrics and Kangadzungel. This time we took a taxi from the harbour to the are where the stores are located and shopped to our hearts' content! I got some new lace, yarns (this time no mint green!), embroidery threads, random sewing accessories like buttons and uh...tons of beads and sequins which are so cheap in Tallinn it's not even funny ;3; Afterwards we went to have some coffee and snacks at local Stockmann's cafe which is a nice place, fair prices and tasty stuff, and it was almost empty even they had of course their local Hullut Päivät.

Then we walked to Virukeskus and shopped some random things, I got myself a bright neon yellow Konad nail polish and earrings from Hello Kitty store. After picking up some salad and random refreshments it was time to head to our ship cabinet, eat, relax and admire our purchases. Definitely an awesome trip!

I put some photos of my purchases to my Tumblr as I think they have much better photo interference than Blogger :-3

And now I have many small projects to finish o/

Carneval spirit

We celebrated our Finnish BJD community's birthday yesterday in Helsinki. I was there too, of course, helping with the arrangements, looking and acting like a total dork and drinking coffee. There were so many great dolls and outfits and argh...mine didn't look very shabby since I had no time nor inspiration to make anything grand ;_; Luckily there is always the next year!

The two photos are taken by jesmo, thanks for letting me borrow 'em! Unfortunately you cannot see that I did prepare something, a bird's tail for Morri. She just doesn't stand very well so it was sort of hidden all the time.

We had a fun time, meetups are great <3

Mister Gravity

Gravity!

Here for the first time - and for the last time as I took this photo for his sale post. Nifty and personal head with lots of character, but unfortunately all too small to work with my crew :(

If someone wants to give him a good home, let me know! He is white-skinned, pinky white to be exact, quite small and realistic and a charming fellow. Aria is quitting so you're not able to order him anymore.

Mint with mint

And what's an update without my animal hats? xP This one's a gift for my friend, but I made a similar one, just with kitty ears, for Griselda. Yes, mint again. I'm all for mint these days, for my dolls and for myself! Myself, I've purchased mint skinny jeans, several nail polishes and am even pondering a mint-coloured wig. Yes, for myself. Spring's really coming :D

Mint chocolate's my favourite

I finished a small amigurumi bear for my dolls yesterday:

Mint chocolate bear

Mint chocolate bear

The pattern is from here, easy to follow and very simple. I wanted a mint chocolate theme. The yarn is from Estonia, I had to stock it up because it's just the perfect shade, and I want to knit more mint stuff for the dolls. I purchased a bunny pattern too from a different seller (I cannot crochet without patterns at all, I don't know why it's so hard :D), so it will be my next project. Please also notice Unni's new great hair from Formydoll. I love their vintage green!

Ehm, nothing new grand here. My Gravity from Aria arrived, but I had to order a new head for him right away. Awesome sculpt, yeah, but the head is t-i-n-y. It's MSD-sized, only the face is longer. I might be able to live with that, but his character is supposed to be Niko's brother, and Niko is CP's Dreaming Shiwoo...yep, those two just don't work together, and there is no way they'll look anyway related xD Actually none of my SD-sized dolls look like they'd be in scale with him :B Luckily I found another head which is larger and should work with his body, so we'll see, we'll see...

Sometimes I wish I didn't care about doll backgrounds, stories and characters so much xD Oh well, live and learn!

On Thursday I visited Estonia's craft stores again and came back with stuff. We'll visit them again in few weeks. I'm planning to purchase tons of lace that time, this time I mostly bought sequins and embroidery threads. And lace, of course, but not as much.

But where to get time and inspiration to actually do something with all the stuff I buy? :D

Two of a kind

I did some doll photography with my girlfriend Illves this morning, and here's my share of photos! The dolls are my Meital and her Jericho

Two of a kind

Two of a kind II

Two of a kind IV

Two of a kind V

Two of a kind VI

Two of a kind VII

Yep, their relationship used to be rather complicated and full of strange emotions. They didn't have a proper relationship - Jericho would secretly love and worship Meital, and Meital being a simple and innocent girl just didn't realize it and considered Jerri her best friend. But then all kinds of things happened, Jericho found his true love from a surprising direction and these days these two are just best friends, two of a kind. Despite their different looks, they are very much the same, two innocent and fluffheaded angels <3

Hope you liked the photos!
