Hype that con

The last weekend I attended Hypecon in Hyvinkää accompanied by some nice doll friends <3 As I predicted, I didn't find much for me in the actual program, but it's okay! The event seemed to be targeted to younger people anyway. But everything was neatly organized, the sale tables were good and I had fun hanging with doll people, chitchatting and walking in random places xD Yeah, I've apparently become one of those dreaded con visitors that just come to cons to HANG AROUND. At least we didn't sit on the stairs blocking everyone, I think...

As expected I have tons of doll photos of course xD; The dolls in photos belong to me, Tiinyan, Safir, Sargonnas and Jaya. Lots of cute Azones ahead, again:

It's funny - at first I didn't like Lien's face at all but right now I'm sure I'll add some version of her to my collection. Ah, why am I on a limited budget right now...

My souvenir

And finally my souvenir, Ultimate Madoka Nendoroid, yay! One booth had a nice selection of Madoka stuff which I don't complain - Madoka is my favourite anime and Madoka herself my favourite magical girl ever ;3; So I can own trillion versions of her, right? xD I still want that yukata version as well.

Let's say all the Nendoroids were priced for an expensive side compared to what they cost online, but this one is a wanted one. I paid 50 euros for her which is an okay price. I would have had to pay about the same had I got her online for a regular Nendoroid price + shipping and customs ^^ So you can sometimes make good deals as of course the shopkeepers can't follow what's the actual market price for each and every figure out there xD Well, that's collecting for you!

Things will be bit more quiet here as we're leaving for a small trip soon. I will be traveling in Sweden with my hubby and his family and then go to visit my own family in my old hometown :) So see you after that o7 I will take a doll and my camera along of course!

A birthday party in Turku

Last Sunday we drove to Turku with Luna and Xaya to attend a BJD meetup <3 Or actually Luna drove as I have no license xD;

The meetup was arranged to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our local BJD forum, Hartsilapset. Oh how the time flies! Although it has quieted down a LOT (I think all internet forums are slowly dying thanks to social media), it's still an important place to me. I wasn't able to participate in my own town's meetup because of my job, so luckily I got this chance.

Before the actual meet we ate some "brunch" in McDonalds - did you know that their ice frappes are actually really good? ^w^ Although the ice makes my throat ache so much xD

Then it was time to do some small shopping! We visited Muovitukku which is a general huge store selling mostly plastic stuff, toys, supplies and who-knows-what. I bought myself some small toys, craft supplies and tiny storage boxes. Near Muovitukku there was also Jättirätti (literally "Giant Rag", haha :D), an awesome large fabric store ;3; I have so much fabric and so little time to sew that I did my best to hold back, but I did find some nice thin cotton fabric and very thin pink cotton laces. I'm especially happy about the laces because I'm very picky about the lace I use xD

After some quick grocery shopping we arrived at the meetup place and had a jolly time <3 The organizers had really put an effort to all kinds of decorations! Although I still find it bit hard to mingle in larger crowds, I had a great time chatting away and meeting new people. It seems my little Kiku (Pukifee Luna) did her best to corrupt people into getting Pukifees, haha xD

When the meetup ended, we stole Minnake and went to eat some Chinese food in the city center in China and Thai. Yummy! I always choose tofu and/or veggies in Asian restaurants, I have some strange prejudices about their meat products although there is absolutely no reason to :D This time I picked a dish with veggies and cashew nuts which was very tasty <3

And then we drove home, happy and tired. It was a fun trip, and I definitely want to attend meetups in other towns as well in the future. Now with cheap bus lines it's not even that expensive, so who wants to come along the next time xD

Hanami doll gathering 2015

Last Sunday we had a small doll gathering in Roihuvuori's Japanese park where the cherry trees were still in full bloom <3  We were me, Sarq, safir, Poarion, Spica and Luna, and we had a jolly time. The weather was pretty and sunny, even if the ground was bit cold, There was no actual theme, all dolls and collectables allowed, but most dolls were Azone's, BJDs, Dollfie Dreams, Nendoroids - and alpacas and mystery dolls as well xD Here's my share of meetup photos:

So colourful! :3 And would you believe that actually my crew was quite modest - okay except for Kiku who is riding on a LTS unicorn...:P

Safir's adorable Picconeemo girl <3 I just may need one of these as well - her tininess is adorable.

And I just may need Nina to be my Chisa's friend ^^; I don't know what it is, but I really like Azone's XS size <3 And just look at that mint-coloured outfit and bunny shoes...

My grail Azone ;3; But she is out of my reach at the moment. I really wish Azone would re-release her at one point, the aftermarket prices for her tend to be quite crazy ;_;

Poarion's gorgeous DD girl, so pink *3*

Friendsie between Railis! My Tove and Sarq's Bambi-san Raili. These photos makes me very happy that I was able to find Raili for a good price, her expression just is so heartmelting. One of my favourite Azone girls definitely!

I also got a new Nendoroid, Nagisa Momoe from Madoka: Rebellion movie. I will take more photos of her when I get the chance! But here she is admiring the blossoms as well. I just had to switch her in her Bebe / witch face, just because xD Well, she looks happy...

Roihuvuori doll hanami

Here's my crew minus Nagisa: Tove, Pip and Kiku. I would have liked to make some yukatas for them, but my job has been hectic lately and I've had some sleeping issues ;_; Luckily it will get easier soon and relaxing with dolls and lovely people helps a lot! :3

Haha, this guy brought a lot of amusement xD He's Spica's Bratz boy, a fleamarket find. I'm too old for Bratz, we just had Barbies and stuff, but his design is quite funny and we had lots of laugh making him pose for photos. Yeah, this is a serious adult hobby YEAH RITE...

We had a fun time, hope to meet again soon! The summer is coming, let's hope for lots of sunny days!

The next weekend we're driving for a BJD meetup in Turku, our BJD forum turns ten years old so it's a birthday party ^3^ I'll be packing a camera along so more photos are coming, hehe.

Summer cocoa

Summer cocoa

I'm currently in a state of doll recession, I guess, as the dolls aren't really inspiring me at the moment :/ The heatwave is taking its toll on me, my job started and it's been rough, and I'm suffering from post-Asia depression of sorts and just want to go back xP I've been in this before, so I know what to do - don't sell dolls and just do something, no matter how small. Like post some photos online. The better times will come, they always have!

I did however some doll things on my summer holiday: attended some gatherings, made some small crafts here and there, updated my Etsy and visited Volks' showroom in Japan. Too bad you cannot bring spray cans on the plane, otherwise I could have brought lots of MSC ;_;

Hanami 2014

Roihuvuori's annual Hanami party was held the last Sunday, and I attended with some dolly friends and Asia nerds. It was quite the success - the weather was nice and sunny, and the trees still had some blossoms in them. In fact the weather was a bit too good to my liking, I left early because it was so hot and I'm allergic to birches. It was quite crowded too, and I spotted many cute yukatas and lolitas <3

Cherry blossoms again

Cherry trees

Black bunnies

Cute doll jewelry made by my friend Gwen! Of course I had to snatch some, because I'm a sucker for this stuff :D

Pastel-y pair

And her equally cute and adorable dolls. There was a time when I really wanted to own Minoruworld's Leila (these days she's a Bluefairy girl!), and looking at this picture...but oh no. I don't really need to own all possible BJDs, right? She's still so very to my liking, so be still, my heart.

Tiny yukatas

My little participants. They don't have proper obis or getas since I ran out of time and just couldn't find reasonably-priced little getas for them - I just found Azone's stuff. It's very good quality and I try not be a cheapskate, but 32 euros for a pair of tiny shoes...ehm. Anyone have tips where to get bit cheaper Blythe-sized geta shoes?

I have no excuse for the lack of nice cotton obis though. Darn, an obi is basically just a long rectangle of fabric, how it was so hard to make them? xP I guess I was just lazy this time.

The yukatas are some cheap Japanese fashion doll stuff that I shortened and tidied. There were threads everywhere, some stitches just came loose and they had the lousiest obis with cheap velcro ever. Oh well, they were cheap and the print is nice anyway.

Overall it was a fun day, and it's always nice to meet fellow dolly people <3

This year's first dolly picnic

The best kind of summer BJD meetups are definitely picnics! Today we had a small one in Vantaa near Heureka science center. We were not many, but sometimes it's fun to have smaller meet ups. That way you are "forced" to interact with everyone. We ate treats and snacks (I brought grapes and waffles) and talked about dolls and everything else. The weather was super nice, and we found a perfect spot near the river in the shade of trees.

Hiu with candy

I had Hiu with me, because I was lazy to carry anyone else. The photo's taken with my new iPhone which has an okay camera, no?

A fun day!

Carneval spirit

We celebrated our Finnish BJD community's birthday yesterday in Helsinki. I was there too, of course, helping with the arrangements, looking and acting like a total dork and drinking coffee. There were so many great dolls and outfits and argh...mine didn't look very shabby since I had no time nor inspiration to make anything grand ;_; Luckily there is always the next year!

The two photos are taken by jesmo, thanks for letting me borrow 'em! Unfortunately you cannot see that I did prepare something, a bird's tail for Morri. She just doesn't stand very well so it was sort of hidden all the time.

We had a fun time, meetups are great <3
